We come to you for brake line/hose repair

Whether your brake pedal is low or your brakes are losing fluid, Lube Mobile is here to help.

Brake Lines and  Brake Hoses deliver pressurised brake fluid from your vehicle’s master cylinder to the brake caliper or wheel cylinder in drum brakes, allowing force to be exerted on your disc rotor or drum.

Lube Mobile can replace both of these at a time and place that suits you, without the need for an expensive garage. We only use quality parts on your vehicle and once new brake parts are fitted we will bleed the brake system and adjust the brakes and handbrake.

It's easy to book online or you can call us 13 30 32 to make an appointment. All our work comes with a 12 month / 20,000km warranty and because we are Australia's largest network of mobile mechanics, we can usually reach you by the same or next business day.

How much does brake repair cost?

Not every braking system issue requires a brake pad replacement.

A brake pad on it's own is not expensive, costing between $50 to $100. However, once your brake pads have failed, which is quite common, you must consider changing other parts of your braking system including the brake caliper, brake drums, brake line/hose, brake shoes, disc rotors, wheel cylinders, master cylinder or wheel hub bearing which may be worn. The price of these components will largely depend on the make and model of your car and the overall condition of your braking system.

In instances where a foreign object gets caught inside a brake caliper or there’s dust or moisture between the brake pad and brake rotor disc, our mechanics can perform minor repairs to get them fixed. In all cases, our mechanics will inspect your vehicle and provide you with an itemised quote before we start any work. Got questions? Ask us. Our friendly team is here to help!

What are brake line hoses and what do they do?

At every wheel with disc or drum brakes, a brake hose connects a rigid steel or aluminum brake line to the brake setup at the wheel.

Brake fluid is pressurised when the brake pedal is pressed, and the fluid travels through the flexible brake hose. The pressurised fluid exerts force on the mechanical brakes and the friction slows your vehicle.

In disc brakes, the pressurized brake fluid forces the caliper pistons to push the brake pads against the rotating brake disc (rotor), creating friction to slow down the vehicle.

In drum brakes, the brake fluid pushes the wheel cylinder pistons outward, forcing the brake shoes against the inside of the brake drum to slow down the vehicle.

How will I know my brake hose needs replacing?

our brake lines will crack and wear depending largely on your style of driving, how much your drive and the quality of your original or replacement parts. Lube Mobile recommends servicing your vehicle at regular intervals to prevent small problems from becoming costly ones.

Indicators of a faulty brake hose include:

Brake fluid leaks

Sticky calipers

Spongy/Soft brake pedal

If you notice any of the above symptoms, book a routine service or repair today and we’ll come to you at a time and place that suits your schedule. We can usually reach you by the same or next business day!

How often should brake line hoses be replaced?

Brake lines and hoses should be inspected regularly and replaced if signs of wear, cracking, or leakage appear. If brake fluid cannot transfer properly due to a damaged line or hose, the braking system will fail.

Under ordinary usage, brake hoses deteriorate over time and brake hose replacement will become necessary. On average, brake hoses last from five to ten years, and often longer, but if you frequently drive off-road you might need to do it sooner.
