We come to you for car alternator repair

If your car won't start, there's a good chance it's your alternator. Lube Mobile can replace yours without the need for a garage.

If you experience problems with your car battery or can’t start your car, there is a good chance you have a problem with your alternator. Usually located near the front of your car's engine, your alternator's purpose is to power your electrical system while the engine is running, as well as to charge the car's battery.

Once the amount of charge your battery receives from the alternator is less than the electrical load of operating the lights, radio etc. it will lead to a dead battery over time. Our mobile vans are equipped with a full range of tools and the parts needed to perform almost any alternator repair or replacement.

It's easy to book an appointment online or call 13 30 32. Our on-site service will save you time and prevent unnecessary travel to and from a workshop.

Why does my alternator keep failing?

If your car battery is undercharged, it is often the result of car accessories not being turned off overnight.

When your car's charging system is functioning correctly, you will see the charge indicator lamp appear whenever you turn the ignition. If the lamp doesn’t appear, then you might need a replacement bulb or to check the warning light circuit. Here are some common reasons for electrical system issues:

  • • Blown fuse
  • • Faulty wiring
  • • Failed relay
  • • Bad alternator
  • • Flat battery

If you are experiencing issues with your battery, starter motor or electrical system, book an inspection of your car's electrical system by a professional mobile mechanic.

Electrical Component Repair FAQs

What does my alternator do?

Your alternator is a major part of your car’s charging system, producing electricity and converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). There are three different components: the alternator, a voltage regulator, and a battery, working to provide sufficient electrical energy to the battery to recharge.

Each alternator is carefully configured for each car’s electrical system requirements such as the intensity and charging level. But if problems occur, it can result in the car battery overcharging or undercharging, which are the leading causes of car battery overheating.

The alternator, along with the battery, generates electric power, which is used by parts of the electrical system such as the instrument panel, exterior and interior lights. An alternator typically has a full output rated at 6000 rpm, and won’t generate significant voltage until the speed is about 2000 rpm or more.

Can I still start my car with a faulty alternator?

Yes, it’s still possible to start your car with a faulty alternator. To do so, you need to use the charge of another vehicle using a set of jumper cables.

Make sure both cars are turned off first and follow these steps:

- Connect the red (positive) cable to the positive terminal of the car with the faulty alternator.

- Then do the same with the other red cable on the car with the charged battery.

- Next, connect the negative (black) cable to the to the negative terminal of car with the good battery .

- Then connect the other black jumper cable anywhere on the engine of the car with the bad battery. This will act as a ground.

- Start the engine of the car with the charged battery and your car should receive enough charge to start your engine and drive.
