We come to you for brake shoe repair
It's important to get a qualified mechanic to inspect your brake system at the first signs of wear and tear.
While disc rotor brakes have become more popular, drum braking systems are still common. Brake shoes work by applying force on the smooth inner surface of your brake drum, allowing your car to slow down, and will display signs of wear over time.
Lube Mobile will clean out your drum brake system and check the wheel cylinders for brake fluid leaks. Once new brake shoes and or wheel cylinders are fitted we will then bleed your brake system and adjust the drum brakes and your handbrake. We use only quality parts on your vehicle and all our work is backed by our 12 month / 20,000 km nationwide warranty on parts and labour.

How much does brake repair cost?
Not every braking system issue requires a brake pad replacement.
A brake pad on it's own is not expensive, costing between $50 to $100. However, once your brake pads have failed, which is quite common, you must consider changing other parts of your braking system including the brake caliper, brake drums, brake line/hose, brake shoes, disc rotors, wheel cylinders, master cylinder or wheel hub bearing which may be worn. The price of these components will largely depend on the make and model of your car and the overall condition of your braking system.
In instances where a foreign object gets caught inside a brake caliper or there’s dust or moisture between the brake pad and brake rotor disc, our mechanics can perform minor repairs to get them fixed. In all cases, our mechanics will inspect your vehicle and provide you with an itemised quote before we start any work. Got questions? Ask us. Our friendly team is here to help!

What do brake shoes do and are they different from brake pads?
Your brake shoes are a set of small, curved metal plates that press against the inside of your car's brake drum to slow or stop your vehicle.
Brake shoes vs. brake pads
Mostly used in drum brake systems, your brake shoes act in the same way as brake pads do in a disc brake vehicle. However, unlike the rubber they use on brake pads, brake shoes or 'Drum brake shoes' have a heat-resistant composite material made of metal and/or kevlar or ceramic fibres attached. This material acts on the inner surface of your brake drum whenever you press the brake pedal to slow your car down.

How can I tell if my brake shoes need replacing?
As an integral part of your car’s drum braking system, it’s important to maintain your brake shoes.
Brake shoes can often last upwards of 100,000km under normal driving conditions, but depending on your style and volume of driving (and braking) will wear out eventually. Here are three signs you need to replace your brake shoes:
Grinding or screeching noises under brakes
If your car sounds like metal scraping or a high-pitched squeal when you brake, your brake shoes might be worn out.
Reduced braking power
If your car takes longer to stop or the brake pedal feels soft or squishy, your brake shoes might be too thin to work properly. This makes stopping unsafe, especially in an emergency!
A burning smell after braking
A strong, burnt smell after braking means your brakes are overheating, which can happen when brake shoes are worn out. This can lead to serious damage if not fixed quickly!
If you notice any of the above symptoms, book a routine service or repair today and we’ll come to you at a time and place that suits your schedule.
How does your pricing work?
This always depends upon what you need, if replacement parts are required and the make and model of your vehicle.
We always strive to give you a fixed price up front via an itemised quote and will let you be in control of costs. We will never start working on your car before we get your approval.
If you are unsure what is wrong with your car and just need a mobile mechanic to come out and fix it, we have a Repair Call Out of $146.85 which includes the first 15 minutes of labour. After this, we charge a competitive hourly rate in 15 minute increments.
