We come to you for disc rotor repair

Damaged brake discs? We come to you for a full brake inspection and rotor repair.

Working in unison with your brake pads and brake calipers, your disc rotors work by providing a metallic surface for your brake pads to clamp onto.

If the disc brake rotor surface is not true, we will measure the disc brake rotor thickness, and if it is above minimum specification we may machine the disc rotors on some vehicles and may have to take them away. If it is equal or below minimum specs we will replace the rotors with new ones.

Once all parts are fitted we will bleed the brake system and make sure the brake fluid is at the correct level. A test drive is then completed to ensure all brake pads and disc rotors are bed in and operating correctly.

How much does brake repair cost?

Not every braking system issue requires a brake pad replacement.

A brake pad on it's own is not expensive, costing between $50 to $100. However, once your brake pads have failed, which is quite common, you must consider changing other parts of your braking system including the brake caliper, brake drums, brake line/hose, brake shoes, disc rotors, wheel cylinders, master cylinder or wheel hub bearing which may be worn. The price of these components will largely depend on the make and model of your car and the overall condition of your braking system.

In instances where a foreign object gets caught inside a brake caliper or there’s dust or moisture between the brake pad and brake rotor disc, our mechanics can perform minor repairs to get them fixed. In all cases, our mechanics will inspect your vehicle and provide you with an itemised quote before we start any work. Got questions? Ask us. Our friendly team is here to help!

What do disc rotors do and why are they important?

As technology improves, more and more manufacturers are building cars with disc braking systems on both front and rear wheels. Apart from being more efficient than older drum braking systems, disc braking systems are easier to maintain and repair.

Essentially constructed of two steel plates, your disc rotors provide the surface upon which your brake pads and calipers clamp down on to stop your vehicle.

Disc rotor replacement vs Disc rotor repair

Over time, as rotors wear down, become warped, or develop grooves, braking performance will reduce and stopping distances will increase, which becomes dangerous if left unchecked, particularly under heavy load.

Unsure about your car's disc rotor service history?

Book a routine service or repair today and we’ll come to you at a time and place that suits your schedule. We can usually reach you by the same or next business day!

How can I tell if my disc rotors need replacing?

Because we never stop using our brakes, it’s inevitable that your disc rotors will eventually need replacing. Disc rotors don’t wear out as fast as brake pads do, but will need to be inspected and replaced once they reach their minimum thickness or become damaged or ‘grooved.’

Here are three signs you need to replace your disc rotors:

Squealing or grinding noises

When your disc rotors are no longer flat, or are generally worn, the noise they make when you apply the brake pedal will be loud and clear!

Reduced braking power

Act fast if you are having trouble bringing your vehicle to a stop! This is especially noticeable on long descents or after driving long distances.

Brake warning light on your dashboard

When it comes to warning lights, it’s never wise to ignore the brake warning light, especially if it’s accompanied by vibrations, strange noises and longer stopping times.

If you notice any of the above symptoms, it’s crucial that you book a routine service or repair today. We’ll come to you at a time and place that suits your schedule and can usually reach you by the same or next business day!
