5 Considerations Before Lending a Mate Your Car

If we all possessed a willingness to share, we wouldn’t all need to own cars. If you have a car of your own — and as long as you don’t have plans of your own for the car — then you should think about lending your car to your mate if he or she is going on a big trip. As long as your mate has his or her licence, there is not too much to worry about. Before you hand over the keys, however, make sure you have everything in order for him or her. The following are some of the things that you should do before you lend your mate your car.

Clean It

Be a good friend and don?t lend your car with it still full of garbage. Make sure the interior especially is clean and, depending on what they need the car for, you may even want to be an extra good mate and wash the outside too. Your mate will be pretty happy to arrive and see the car in such good shape, and this will also make it more likely that they will return your car looking great too.

Get It Serviced

Particularly if your car hasn?t been serviced in a while, make sure there are going to be no troubles by booking it in for a car service before you lend it. Car service in Melbourne and Sydney is both inexpensive and usually excellent quality, and you can even have someone come to you and service the car at your home. Your mate won?t be the only one benefiting, as your car will be running great for quite a while once it has had a good once-over.

Add Your Friend to Your Insurance Policy

Just to make sure everyone is covered, add your mate?s name to your insurance policy, just in case there is any kind of issue. Chances are everything will be fine, but it doesn?t cost much to add a temporary driver to your insurance policy, and it will mean no-one has to lose sleep worrying about an accident taking place.

Fill it Up

A very classy touch is to make sure you lend your car with a full tank of petrol. Obviously, this isn?t absolutely necessary, though you will be getting your friend off to a great start on their mission and they will probably return the favour and bring your car back full of petrol too.

Make Plans For Your Own Transit

If you are going to be without a vehicle for a few days or a week, you are going to need to make sure you have a plan of your own for getting around. It might be a good excuse to get some exercise and walk or ride more, but whatever you do, don?t forget to allow a little more time getting everywhere.

If you are willing to lend a mate your car, you are a good mate and your kind gesture is sure to not be forgotten. If we all did things like this for each other, we could save everybody lots of money, as we all wouldn?t need to own everything ourselves.
