Electronic Tune Up

   

This is performed using a diagnostic oscilloscope (tune scope) to check and adjust the engine and the fuel/ignition systems to ensure peak performance, reliability and fuel economy. A compression/balance test will be performed and results recorded on the invoice. The battery, starting and charging system will be checked together with belts, under bonnet fluid levels and the air and fuel filters. Finally a road test will be performed to check for any other possible problems and to ensure all the work performed was satisfactory.

Tune Up

Under Bonnet:

  • Carry Out Engine Compression Test
  • Check Tappets Or Lifters For Noise & Report
  • Inspect Emission Control System
  • Inspect Operation of E.G.R
  • Inspect P.C.V Valve Operation
  • Inspect Timing Belt or Enquire With Client When it Was Last Replaced

Electrical And Starting System:

  • Check Condition Of Battery
  • Load Test Battery
  • Inspect/Top Up Electrolyte Level
  • Inspect Battery Terminals
  • Test Starter Motor Current Draw
  • Test Alternator Voltage Output Under Load
  • Test Park Neutral Switch Operation
  • Check Power Supply Cables Securely Mounted

Ignition System:

  • Check Colour and Wear Characteristics of Old Plugs and Points (If Applicable)
  • Inspect Ignition Leads for Wear or Burn Marks
  • Inspect Ignition Leads for Security and Mounting Replace Spark Plugs
  • Inspect and Adjust Spark Plug Gaps
  • Check Ignition Coil Voltage Output
  • Check Ignition Coil for Cracks or Leaks
  • Inspect Main Engine Earth
  • Check And Adjust Ignition Timing To Manufactures Specifications

Carburettor And Fuel System:

  • Replace Air Filter
  • Replace Fuel Filter
  • Check Fuel Lines, Hoses And Pipes
  • Inspect And Check Carburettor Condition And Security
  • Inspect And Adjust Carburettor Idle & Mixture Air Speed Screws
  • Inspect Vacuum Lines & Hoses
  • Inspect Idle Stop Solenoid Operation

Electronic Fuel Injection System:

  • Inspect Throttle Body For Security
  • Check Operation Of Injectors
  • Inspect Fuel Rail Condition & Security
  • Adjust Idle Air Speed
  • Check And Inspect E.F.I Components For Security And Operation

Road Test:

Check & Report On Vehicle For Engine Performance, Braking, Steering, Suspension And Operation Of All Accessories & Lights
